Trouble in Shangri-la is Stevie Nicks’ first solo CD release in five years; it features some of her strongest material since her 1982 Bella Donna release. From the opening song “Trouble In Shangri-la” you can clearly hear her distinctive raspy voice still in true form at age 53. She is joined by some very special friends on this recording. Sherly Crow co- produces and plays on five songs, Lindsey Buckingham, Macy Gray join in on “Bombay Sapphires”, “Natalie Maines“ and “Too Far From Texas”. Sarah Mclachlan performs on ”Love Is”. I especially enjoyed “Sorcerer”, along with Sheryl Crow. Nicks hits some spine tingling high notes on “Planets of the Universe” and “Every Day”. I really got pleasure from vintage like Stevie Nicks rocking songs such as “Fall from Grace” and a very sweet sounding “It’s Only Love”, as well as the piano based “Love Is”. Stevie really keeps it rocking on this fun blend of songs.
