Once again Disney Studio’s ingenious animators have out done themselves. This meticulously crafted movie combines digitally enhanced live-action footage filmed on location in Australia, California, Florida, Hawaii, Venezuela and Western Samoa along with state-of-the-art, computer-generated characters. Although set 65 million years ago, the characters and the scenery feel so real you some how feel that there is a country where these pre-historic creatures still live today. D.B. Sweeney’s voice becomes that of Aladar, the main character in this sweet tale of love, alienation and unity. Aladar’s love interest is Neera, narrated by Julianna Margolies. Also contributing their voices are Alfred Woodard, Ossie Davis, Max Casella, Hayden Panettiere, Samuel E. Wright, Peter Siragusa, Joan Plowright and Della Reese. This motion picture’s light story and plot line make it attainable to kids of all ages (even us older kids). But beware of several very realistic and explicit dinosaur foraging scenes. So, treat a munchkin or two to this wonderful cinematographic fantasy excursion. Don’t wait for the video as this is definetly a big screen must. The movie required 3.2 million processing hours and the equivalent of 70,000 cd roms worth of information for a total cost of 150 million dollars. Your television screen would not do it justice.
