With Maria Abreu as your immigration lawyer you can expect endless delays, excuses, charges for services not rendered, verbal abuse and lies. Marie as well as her staff and associates are incompetent.
If you are looking for an immigration lawyer to move to the Dominican republic , I would highly suggest you stay far away from Maria Abreu and associates. My ordeal started April 29 2024 and ended July 2025 when I called Abreu and expressed concerns yet over another lengthy delay. Maria Abreu hung up on me and sent me a wasap chat saying I am INSANE(yes in bold) no longer a client, and that she would provide me with the company documents and retainer for 15 months of doing nothing but providing false charges excuses, and endless delays. Marie you are a bad excuse for a lawyer and almost certainly graduated at the bottom of your class. Any lawyer that puts the texts and emails below in writing is proof in itself.
100’s of unanswered texts, emails, and phone calls from her and her associates over 15 months simply requesting an update after lengthy periods.
Two fingerprint checks valid for 6 months were let to expire second one will expire in October 2025. I have to pay for a third one.
Her apostle in Canada charged me to apostle my birth certificate and fingerprint check and he did not even open the envelopes. Then a delay on his or Maria Abreu for 8 months in sending the non apostiled documents from Canada to your office in Florida. Liar on your part or incompetence on your apostles but no excuse for an 8 month delay and to charge for services not even done.

I’m now informed that the consulate has changed the rules for residency ie @Maria Abreu needs more money and that I have to open up a company to proceed with my residency which turns out I did not need. I called the consulate in September 2025 that was a complete lie by Maria Abreu selling me a company that I did not need to become a resident and she did not register with the Dominican chamber of commerce.
